1. About the service

MyTenancyCheck (“the Service”) provides AI-generated plain English summaries of UK tenancy agreements to help renters understand their agreements. The Service is operated by MyTenancyCheck and is available at mytenancycheck.co.uk.

2. Not legal advice

MyTenancyCheck is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. The AI-generated reports are for informational purposes only. You should not rely on them as a substitute for professional legal advice. If you have concerns about your tenancy agreement, please contact Shelter, Citizens Advice, or a qualified solicitor.

3. Eligibility

By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and have the right to upload the tenancy agreement you submit (i.e. it relates to a property you are a prospective or current tenant of).

4. Payment and refunds

• The Service costs £5 per report, payable in advance via Stripe.
• Payment is non-refundable once your report has been successfully generated and delivered.
• If the Service fails to generate your report due to a technical error on our part, you are entitled to a full refund. Please contact support@mytenancycheck.co.uk within 7 days.
• Refunds are processed within 5–10 business days.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload any document that is not a genuine tenancy agreement.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or misuse the Service.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Submit documents containing personal data of third parties without their consent.

6. AI-generated content

Reports are generated using artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude). While we use a carefully designed prompt to maximise accuracy, AI can make mistakes. The report may miss clauses, misinterpret language, or fail to identify certain legal issues. Always read your agreement in full and seek professional advice for significant concerns.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MyTenancyCheck shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on a report generated by the Service. Our total liability to you in connection with the Service shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the relevant report (£5).

8. Intellectual property

The report generated is provided to you for your personal use. You may share it with your landlord, letting agent, or legal adviser in connection with your tenancy. You may not resell or redistribute reports commercially.

9. Changes to the Service

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time. We will not be liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
